This painting was inspired by the beautiful colours of autumn and the mysterious and mystical autum fox amongst it. Sitting majestically upon the tree stump the owl swooping above through the trees brings drama and movement into the otherwise motionless scene. The use of inks and experimentation of colour and application of it adds the vivid colour and contrast of the leaves.
This painting was influenced by the change of season when autumn falls into winter and the red carpet of leaves carves a path within the forest. My love of animals brought this painting to life with the addition of the enchanting creatures of the owl and fox. I wanted to create a perspective of the trees going out into the distance along with the path to give a good sense of distance. A lot playful experimentation of inks on acrylics to create a slight pointillist effect and scattering of colour of leaves falling or in branches and on the forest floor. Thick and generous application of paint and layers has created the vivid and bold contrast of colours. Especially the green and red together. I wanted the viewer to feel part of the scene and the elusive sighting of these woodland animals.
